These Air Fryer Buttermilk Biscuits have a flaky, buttery crust that is sure to rock your world! The best part is, they’re made completely from scratch with simple ingredients you probably have on hand!

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 8 tbsp butter cold
  • 1 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  • First, start by adding your flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt to a bowl. Mix well with a whisk and ensure there are no lumps in the mixture.
  • Next, cut your butter into cubes and add it into your flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, mix the butter with the flour mixture very well until the butter pieces are pea-sized.
  • Create a round space in the middle of your mixing bowl and add in your buttermilk. Mix all the ingredients together very well until it turns into dough. Make sure to scrape the extra flour that gets stuck to the side of the bowl.
  • Next, use 3 tbsp of flour to flour up your counter top. Gently fold your dough into a square about 2-3 times. This is how you create those flaky layers. Smooth the dough out until it is about 3/4 of an inch thick.
  • Use a 2 inch biscuit cutter to cut your biscuits out of the dough. Do not twist the biscuit cutter because you don’t want to seal the edges. Simply press down and then remove your biscuit dough.
  • Refrigerate the prepared biscuits for approximately 15 minutes. This gives the butter a chance to harden back up. The end result will be super fluffy, buttery biscuits.
  • Next, line the bottom of your air fryer with air fryer parchment paper or spray with cooking oil if you don’t have parchment paper. Place your biscuits inside of your air fryer. It’s okay if they are touching. Brush the top of your biscuits with melted butter.
  • Finally, preheat the air fryer by setting it to 400 degrees F for 3 minutes. Once preheated, air fry the biscuits at 400 degrees F for a total of 12 minutes. At 6 minutes, open your air fryer and flip the biscuits over. Close the air fryer and let it finish cooking for another 6-7 minutes or until completely cooked through.
