Ingredients

Dry

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (or gluten-free blend, if you need it)
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • Pinch of salt

Wet

  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup milk (or dairy-free: almond/soy/oat)
  • ¼ cup oil (vegetable/canola/melted butter)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Add-ins

  • ½ cup chocolate chips (mini work best for air fryer)
  • Optional: 2 tbsp extra chips for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat air fryer to 150°C (300°F) for 3 minutes.
  2. Grease and line your 6-inch cake pan.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together:
    • flour
    • sugar
    • baking powder
    • baking soda
    • salt
  4. In another bowl, whisk:
    • egg
    • milk
    • oil
    • vanilla
  5. Pour wet ingredients into dry, mix until just combined.
  6. Fold in ½ cup chocolate chips.
  7. Pour batter into pan and sprinkle more chips on top.
  8. Place pan in the air fryer and cook 20–25 minutes, until:
    • top is golden
    • toothpick comes out clean (a little melted chocolate is fine!)
  9. Cool 10 minutes before slicing.

Tips for Best Results

  • If the top browns too fast, cover loosely with foil halfway through.
  • For a super moist cake, replace 2 tbsp milk with 2 tbsp yogurt.
