How To Make Bacon Wrapped Hot Dogs
-
Prepare a work space with 2-3 toothpicks per hot dog.
-
Take one piece of bacon at a time and wrap bacon tightly around each hot dog so the edges of the bacon touch, but do not overlap. This will help the bacon cook evenly. For a long hot dog, you’ll need about 2 pieces of bacon. For a standard size hot dog you will probably only need one piece of bacon. For mini hot dogs, you will probably want to cut bacon in half so the bacon wraps around the cocktail dogs without overlapping.
-
Secure ends of bacon with toothpicks.
How to make bacon wrapped hot dogs in AIR FRYER
-
Preheat air fryer to 400° F for 5 minutes.
-
Spray air fryer basket with cooking spray if desired. Add bacon wrapped hotdogs in air fryer basket. Air fry bacon hot dogs for 8 minutes. Flip hot dogs (so the bacon cooks evenly) and cook for another 3-5 minutes until the bacon is fully cooked to your desired level of crispness.
How to make bacon wrapped hot dogs OVEN BAKED
-
Preheat oven to 400° F. (This is my favorite oven temperature for sheet tray bacon, too).
-
Add bacon wrapped hotdogs to a parchment paper lined baking sheet. Bake bacon hot dogs for ~13-16 minutes or until the bacon cooks evenly. (I don’t usually find it necessary to flip the hot dogs, but you can flip and cook them a few more minutes if the bacon isn’t cooked to your liking).
How to make bacon wrapped hot dogs GRILL STYLE
-
Preheat grill to high, about 400-425° F (I provide a range because exact grill temperatures can vary quite a bit).
-
Spray grill with cooking spray or brush a little olive oil on grates so the hot dogs won’t still. Add bacon wrapped hot dogs to the grill and bake for 8-12 minutes, with the cover closed, rotating every 2-3 minutes or until bacon is cooked to desired crispness. Some hot dogs may finish cooking early, so remove them from the grill or away from the direct flame once done, while the others finish cooking.
Tips for finishing and serving bacon wrapped hotdogs
-
Remove hot dogs from heat and let them cool 1-2 minutes or until they’re easy to touch with your fingers.
-
Remove toothpicks before serving in hotdog buns with condiments. In the photo demonstration I used a delicious combination of cheddar cheese and bbq sauce.
-
Serve and enjoy!
Notes
- Add a sprinkle of brown sugar to bacon before wrapping the hot dogs to add a little sweetness to this bacon wrapped hot dog recipe.
